How do you differentiate between Glass and Glass Fiber?

Glass fiber (or glass fiber) is a material consisting of numerous extremely fine fibers of glass.

glass fiber has high tensile strength when compared to glass.

The composition differs slightly but not in large proportions contains more amount of silica based on the application.

Sizing (application of chemical) is done for conversion of glass to glass fiber.

Cooling is done in stages for glass fiber where as for glass rapid cooling is done.

Fiber glass is tough because fiber glass has criss cross glass fibers bonded by resin. During impact crack generated in glass propagates easily and the glass simply shatters but in case of fiber glass due to criss cross structure only some fiber may get cracked while others are sound. The crack cannot propagate easily in fiber glass.
