​​What is Dry Ice?

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. A block of dry ice has a surface temperature of -109.3 degrees Fahrenheit (-78.5 degrees C). Dry ice also has the very nice feature of sublimation -as it breaks down, it turns directly into carbon dioxide gas rather than a liquid.

An auxanometer is an apparatus for measuring increase or rate of growth in plants.  In case of an arc-auxanometer, there is a wire fixed with the plant apex on one end and a dead-weight on the other. It passes over a pulley which has a pointer attached to it.   When the plant's height increases, the pulley rotates and the pointer moves on a circular scale to directly give the magnitude of growth. The "rate of growth" is a derived measurement obtained by dividing the length of growth measured by the auxanometer, by the time said measurement took. Sensitive auxanometers allow measurement of growth as small as a micrometer, which allows measurement of growth in response to short-term changes in atmospheric composition. Auxanometers are used in the laboratory, the field, and the classroom. Koningsberger invented the auxanometer.

​​Why are local disks in computers labelled with alphabets C, D, E and not with A and B?

Have you seen a floppy? Floppies were a type of disk storage used earlier before the current system of storage came into existence. Floppy disk drives were named with the letters A and B. When hard disk drives became standard in most computers, they were logically labeled 'C' since the first two letters were already used for these floppy drives. Though floppy disk drives are no longer widely used, hard disks are still labeled from 'C' onwards.
